Day 3 . . . Not a Walk in the Park!

Picture

Today is Day 3 of my 21 Day Sugar Detox and I'm not gonna lie.  It's not been a walk in the park.  I knew it would be a challenge when I looked outside and knew we were iced in due to our second snow storm. I knew that no school and house full of boys and their friends, and no sugar, or mindless eating would not be easy for me.  In order to keep myself accountable I thought I would take a photo of everything I ate.  If I made myself share with you what I ate surely I'd be less likely to cheat!

I had read about the "carb flu" symptoms, headaches, fatigue and other side effects that folks experienced on this program.  I didn't think too much of it.  I was sure that wouldn't be me.  However, I will confess to having a headache on and off all day today and I'm not someone who normally gets a headache.  I also felt tired today but I'm not sure if that was from the Detox or just from being housebound and going through the cycle of forever cooking for and cleaning up from all these boys that wander in over here!

So, below I've got proof of my eats and the lack of anything unnatural, processed or containing sugar.  Whew.  I am just hoping the day will end soon and I can make it.  I honestly want one glass of wine to get me through the snow and ice and the 13 teenage boys coming in and out of my house!

Breakfast of two eggs with half an avocado and half a grapefruit. Coffee, too, of course!

A late lunch of turkey meatballs and green tea since it was soooooo cold outside!

A fresh clementine that came via Pittman and Davis. Not officially sanctioned by the 21 Day Detox plan, but maybe close enough to a grapefruit for me . . .

A bowl of delicious Chorizo chili that I adopted from a recipe in the book. Recipe coming soon!

I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day . . . both weather wise and Detox wise!

What have you done today?  Are you in an area of winter storm?  I hope you are warm and safe and have power!  Isn't that the worst when the power goes?  Doesn't it show just how dependent and spoiled we have become?  Are you thinking of doing this no sugar program?  Or letting me be your guinea pig?

I understand there are 135,000 Georgians without power at the time I am typing this.  I hope that number doesn't grow and those folks get it restored quickly.

Stay safe!  Stay Warm!
