SUMMER READING. . . MY LATEST READS

Picture
A friend showed me her book mark. How perfect is this? She's one of those folks I talk books with!

Today is August 1.  I've picked up the Third Son from camp and I'm a little sad to see the summer coming to a close.  I remember when August was the long, hot, drawn out month before school began.  In my day, September 1 marked the close of summer.  I feel as if we have lost a month these days.  Another thing that I hate to see come to a close is summer reading.  I can be a complete bookworm and I LOVE summer because the schedule is a little more relaxed and I can actually find time to read.  I can always be found with a Kindle in my purse, an audiobook on my phone and a hard copy book by my bedside.  I love talking books with folks -  recommending them, asking for recommendations and talking about the plots and characters.  I like having these characters in my head and appreciate the time, effort and energy writers put into their creations.

I've read (and listened, thank you Audible.com!) some really good books lately.   They run the gamut in genres from historical fiction, biographical, fiction, dark, light and spiritual.  I'd love to hear what you've been reading!
I like books that give me something.  I want to learn something.  Some books challenge me and make me think about myself.  I don't read romance novels or many "just fluff" books.  I think the lightest book in this grouping is What Alice Forgot.  It was a different read for me and I really liked it.  I liked the idea of what the character went through and how she handled her situation.  I feel as if I learned something new and different from each of these reads.  It's been a good summer.

What about you?  What have you been reading?  What do you like to read?  What's you favorite latest book?  Do you read as much during the rest of the year as in the summer?

Enjoy your day!  Hope it's a fun one!
