Recaps and Check Ins. . . weekend, savings  challenge, injuries, blog, . . .

Mondays . . . you either love them or hate 'em.  Sometimes I love them sometimes, well, not so much.  I think if we had just one more day in the weekend them Monday morning wouldn't feel so rough!  Sometimes I just want the weekend to continue to linger around . . .
especially ones like this past weekend.  It was full of not really any planned event, but somehow so very full.  It was perfect.  So, here's a very, small, nutshell review of a perfect weekend.
The First Son came home for a night.  It was so nice to have him home, hanging out with the Third Son, eating some home cooking, relaxing and sleeping in his own bed.  We listened to the Second Son's football game, while sitting outside by the fire.
Yes, I felt a little guilty not being there in person, but sometimes you just can't be in all places . . . we all need clones at times.
Saturday was a great day for a garage clean out ( I love a project!), a workout (that I'll share this week), football, dinner out and an impromptu visit with friends, and more football.  Sunday included Hot Yoga, a 6 mile walk with The Husband and the dogs (that about did them in!) and a low key dinner on the grill.  If I had only had one more day of the weekend I would have gotten around to all the laundry piling up. . .

The walk was a bit much for poor Lu. I don't think she even noticed she had no place to rest her head!

I spent the weekend easing back into some of my regular workouts.  This past week was week three in taking some time off to fight off some overuse injuries.  Let me tell you, if you need to take time off - and you know who you are - just do it!  I feel so much better now!  I'm back from teaching a Bootcamp Class and I feel amazing!  I ran, squatted, jumped, you name it, and felt great.   There really is something to the "Rest" advice, AND patience.  I think they work hand in hand!

The other "check in" I was going to mention is my "Savings Spree" No Shopping Challenge.  Well, I have to admit I fell off the wagon this week for a  pair of shoes.  Yes, I have a weakness for shoes.  Love them.  Especially love them if they are comfortable.  In fact, I consider them a necessity and not a luxury item.  Sigh.  I've jumped right back on my horse and am vowing to stay away from the stores and the sales.
The last "check in" is on this blog.  When I first set up this site (or to be honest, the Second Son actually did it for me!) it was a way to communicate with my fitness classes.  I wanted to have my teaching schedule and bootcamp schedule here,  as well as have a place to share healthy tips and answer questions that came my way.  Somehow I began to love this platform and learning new things and sharing them.  I think I began with maybe three readers - all of them family - and somehow have grown.  It's been pretty amazing!   It's also been a slow process because everything I've done here has been self-taught and, as my family will tell you, I'm not very technical.  So, as I read other blogs written by a younger generation I marvel at how they figured out all this stuff in this technical world!  Another thing I notice as I read other healthy living sites, is that most are authored by folks much younger than I am.  Therefore, a lot of them, while really great sites, are not really relevant to my health and fitness needs and goals.  A lot has happened in the past three years and a lot of that has been shared here.  That was not the intent at the outset of this "non-blog blog",  as I hadn't intended on it getting personal.  However, it evolved and became, at times, a great place for sharing life's ups, downs and lessons.  Interestingly, some of those "personal" posts provided the most feedback from you all.  It was such a nice gesture and I often go back and re-read those sweet comments.

I would like this site to be a place, or forum, with information that is helpful for a general audience, but will likely be more geared to those in my own age category as that is where I am and my experiences lie.  As I educate myself on my own changing needs I want to share what I learn with others in the same boat.  Hopefully, others can also learn from my mistakes or my own trial and errors!

I am looking forward to this site getting a facelift.  I actually have an expert now helping me move it to another domain and clean it up - and make it look all brand new.  So exciting!  So, I hope you stay tuned for the NEW L OOK.  I would also LOVE any feedback on what YOU would like to see more of-   topics YOU would like to read, questions YOU may have, and just exactly what interests YOU.

As always, Thanks so much for stopping by!

And, here's a little thought for the week:

My sentiments exactly!

What's your favorite type of weekend?  Jam packed or low key?  What temps you to shop?  And I'd love to hear from you on anything you'd like to see HERE!
