Entering Week Two of the New Year . . .

New-Year-Resolution-2016-yomzansi-300x194So we are coming into week two of the new year.  How is it going for you?  I noticed this morning that my regular body sculpt class was PACKED.  I mean filled to the gills.  The class has become a sign up only class, and this morning, the wait list was about as long as the class capacity!  I am not crazy enough to think that all of these wonderful folks were lined up just to see little ol' me.  That would be really nice, but I know, in fact, that the numbers were at steroid level because it is January 8.  That means people are 8 days in their New Year's resolutions to lose weight, get in shape, get fit, go to the gym, try a new class, lift weights, get healthy or work out every darn day.For some people it is an all or nothing thing.  Swearing off all sugar, promising to not eat bread ever again, eliminating all soda drinks from the diet forever, vowing to get to the gym every single day of the week, resolving to run miles and miles every week (from someone who only runs after a toddler), promising to live on a liquid only diet for a month, planning on never ever ever having another  chocolate chip cookie, saying no more gluten, stopping the caffeine habit cold turkey, drinking only water every single day . . . you get the picture. Some of these all or nothing "resolutioners"  pile one strict mantra on top of another making the first week of a fabulous new year one of the most miserable 7 plus days of an entire lifetime.  Does your New Year's Resolution list set out so many things it looks like my grocery list?  Are they filled with words like never, don't, forever, every day, eliminate, or other negative words?  How is that working out for you?If your resolutions are similar to this then I am afraid for you.  I am afraid you have set yourself up for failure.  Taking on so many, dogmatic, never ever type of resolutions will tend to be waaaayyyy too much of a burden and too much of a drastic change.Take that too long grocery list looking Resolutions and cut waaayyyyy back.  Choose one to three things to work on.  Smaller strides, smaller steps, heck,  even baby steps count toward meeting your New Year goals.  Progress is progress.  Moving forward is progress.  That's what we are after here.  Keep one to three specific goals in mind and you CAN make it a part of your day, your week and your new year.  It just doesn't have to be every single healthy habit you can think of or beat yourself up about all at one time.I want to see you succeed.  I want you to love 2016 and all of the open space it has to offer.  I want you to feel good and be healthy.  I want you to progress and I want you to see your  progress.  So, if you are feeling a bit frustrated, a bit overwhelmed, already a bit down, then remember to cut waaayyyy back and focus only on a few new goals.  Make your small steps every day and every week and you will keep moving forward.  You will keep making progress. How is your new year so far?  Keeping your goals?  Already feeling overwhelmed?  Losing steam? Making great progress and feeling energized?  What are your tips?Enjoy Your Day!Signature  Funny-New-Year-Resolution-quote-2016
