A Guest Post, talking skincare, AND a Giveway

I am excited to share a Guest Post today!  My friend and old neighbor, Dorsey, recently began working with the  BeautyCounter. skincare line.  Let me preface by saying this is one busy gal.  She is a mama to four, wife to one and somehow found the time and energy to initiate and run a childcare program at her church.  Oh, and in her spare time she now works with Beautycounter! I have talked about this great company before right HERE.  As I've previously said, I love the philosophy of this company, their use of all natural and organic products AND that they have now made it easier than ever to properly take care of ourselves.     We all know health and fitness is so much more than eating grilled chicken and broccoli every day and sweating it out in the gym.  The other choices we make to care for ourselves also add to our overall health.  So, when Dorsey agreed to share I was thrilled to have you read what she has to say!  Thanks for the post!  And make sure you stay tuned until the end for a GIVEAWAY!GUEST POST ABOUT BEAUTYCOUNTER 44d8b61d-3d9b-4ea3-8944-4343f9f849eb-2I have always had a hard time committing to a new lifestyle change. I am generally a year or two (or five!) behind on the latest trends. Marla-Deen was doing burpees down the street while I was still burping people over my shoulder. Sometimes I guess I want to see the proof before I go to a lot of hassle to make the change. But I have learned to massage kale and embrace quinoa and I feel quite proud of my progress with healthy food choices and my composting efforts. When I was introduced to Beautycounter earlier this year, I was truly taken by surprise when I learned that as much regulating of every single thing that goes on in this country, that virtually NO major regulation has gone on in the skin care industry since 1938. That means companies can basically put anything in their products that they want to, with the exception of about 14 banned ingredients. Parabens, heavy metals and phthalates are all commonly used in skin care products. Beautycounter bans over 1,400 ingredients to provide safe and high performing products. Most women put an average of 12 products on their body before they head out the door and then get exposed to even more things that get into our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ, and what we put on it is absorbed in about 26 seconds. Everything in moderation, right? I am still wearing nail polish on my toes and putting color on my hair, but I am feeling great about making the easy changes I can make for myself and for my family. If you are looking for a place to start, many people start with their children (we always put those people first!) or with products that you put on at least one time daily, with the intention of staying on, like body lotions, eye creams, lipsticks and face moisturizers. The road to safer skincare is not ending and Beautycounter is the only company trailblazing by taking an active role in trying to regulate laws for everyone. Whether it is making changes like choosing safer skincare products, buying organic or the importance of exercising your mind and body, there is no denying the rewards these healthy choices afford us.If you are interested in learning more, please contact me at dorseysbeautycounter@gmail.com or visit my website at www.beautycounter.com/dorseydelong.
