One of Those Great Weekends. . .
How often do you have one of those weekends, while maybe a whirlwind with so much going on you feel as if Friday was at least a week ago, it all falls into place? You enter your Sunday evening feeling satisfied, refreshed and accomplished? It doesn't happen often but when things just seem to fall into place it is such a nice feeling! It makes the thought of Monday so much less painful! Our weekend included Homecoming activities here, Parents Weekend for the First Son, football games, time with all the boys, together and individually, some home projects, good meals and some exercise. It was a lot crammed into two days!I had a great time visiting the First Son for his fraternity Parent's Night dinner. I went alone, leaving The Husband to cheer on the Second Son in his Homecoming football game. I wasn't sure what to expect going solo, but had a great time as his "date". He entertained me, introduced me around, twirled me around on the dance floor, including elbowing me in the head, and never left me hanging. On Saturday, I went to a wonderful power yoga class. Our YMCA has just completed a renovation including two new studios that are light and bright. It is wonderful new space for our classes. This yoga was one of those classes that flowed so well in a challenging but totally relatable way. It was such a nice way to begin a Saturday. I hope I can make my own clients feel this good this week.I am a sucker for house projects. I've had a closet between our kitchen and garage that seems to have become a catch all in such a way I would be too embarrassed to share a pic. I took some time Saturday afternoon to remove every single item, ranging from dog food, light bulbs, candles, flashlights, reusable bags, to tools, nails, screws, and cleaning supplies. I listened to a podcast recently by Gretchen Rubin talking about organizing. One of her happiness hacks is to have an empty shelf. I tried to follow that advice when reorganizing the closet. Let me tell you, it works. I love opening that door to that closet and seeing that clean empty shelf! You should try it.I typically reserve some time on Sundays to give our English Setter, Eli, a nice long walk. Believe me, he needs it. Since I spent a great chunck of the day doing some computer work, and some projects outside, when it came time to walk Eli, I was in a quandary. I hadn't gone to the grocery store for food for dinner. If I ran to the store then I would only have about 20 minutes to walk . Then the perfect solution came. . . I could order the few ingredients I needed for dinner from Instacart and still have an hour for my walk. So, that's what I did and this was one of the times it was worth the delivery fee to get in some movement and be outside on such a great Fall day. I know there may not be Instacart where you live, but maybe another delivery service of some sort? Or at least don't feel guilty about taking a short cut somewhere if it means you are exchanging it for something adding to your health. While dinner was cooking, I did some multitasking by watching a little HGTV and getting in a few yoga poses. I was pretty stiff from sitting at the computer earlier and walking the hills around our house. If you follow me on Instagram you saw that post - I say throw in some stretching whenever you can folks!Speaking of dinner, it was quick and easy White Chicken Chili, that is always good! It's a great Sunday night dinner. I've made it for so long that I don't really have a recipe. If you don't have one of your own, THIS one is very similar to mine. I guess I should share my own at some point. . .Now, to top off my Sunday evening I have this to look forward to!Enjoy Your Day!
