2018 Bucket List Goals
The other night at the dinner table I asked my family if they had thought of their goals for the New Year. I asked if they had thought of any resolutions, changes, intentions for 2018. I did not think it was an unreasonable question. I was faced with four blank stares. I only have three sons, so the fourth included The Husband. Sigh.I love this time of year! I love this week between Christmas and the New Year. I love the thought of starting a New Year and a completely clean slate. I look at it as an opportunity for a fresh start. I hope to be able to greet this time next year and see some good changes and growth. Who wants to end up a year later in the same old place? In the past few years I have shared here my choosing a word for the year. I have shared Intention and Gratitude. I like being able to look back and see how that has helped me grow towards striving to putting those words in each day. Notice I said "striving" because I am not perfect and each day can be a struggle. But I keep plugging away and feel, at times, like the weeble who wobbles and won't fall down!I can honestly admit that I have put a whole lot of thought into my intentions, goals and word for this year. I mean a lot. I have spent time going over the past few years, thinking and praying about what I need, and want, to change and accomplish in the coming year. I have also spent a few days thinking about how to share all of that here. I know I have to sound really, really hokey. I know. But I just can't help myself.During all this thinking, reading, and looking at others' lists, I've come to realize that I cannot take on any one else's goals. It would be easy and I can see the good in others' intentions, but I know that's not what I need to do here. I need to be original and actually put my own needs here - as do you. This year I've gone a little deeper in my goal setting. I am choosing a word for the year which I will share, but I am also writing out other goals that I have for the year. One thing about sharing here is that I have built in accountability as I've written and published it and anyone can call me out on it at any time! Scary. I am also offering you the opportunity to get a little scary. If you don't want to share with others, no problem. But, I think, at least writing them down will have a huge impact. Sooooooo, I have created my own . . .2018 Bucket List Goals. I hope you will check it out, print it and make it your own!I told my boys to write down their goals for the year. I am a firm believer that if you don't write them down they will simply disappear. Right? But, back to the word for 2018.This year I choose to live Abundantly. I will confess that I choose the word abundant because I just love that word. It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? I also think it would feel really good to be able to really live an abundant life. When I say abundant I am not saying I want more things or more stuff in my life. I want to feel as if what I have is more than enough. I want to make sure my days are abundant. I want to not waste them with mindless and unnecessary stuff that doesn't matter. I want to get up and seize the day and appreciate what a gift it is. I tend to take things a little too seriously and want to be more like my brother used to be. He could squeeze some good out of even the worst of days. In my mind, it's not about money or wealth or stuff - but about taking what you have and living large with just that. So, that's my word for 2018 . . . . ABUNDANTLove that word!Another thing that I am putting first and foremost on my own 2018 Bucket List Goals is to make sure I add in FUN things.I am not a fan of resolutions because they typically go by the wayside in about three weeks. That's about all it takes. So, those typical, "exercise more", "get to the gym", "lose weight", "lose 10 pounds", "save money", "get organized", type of resolutions are not typically successful. I've talked about making doable, manageable goals that will actually work. We typically state these not-fun type of things that can be punishing. I want you all to add some fun to your New Year's Goals or Intentions. For example, I am terrible at going out to lunch with friends. Don't ask me why, but I rarely ever do this. When I ever do, I enjoy it so much and get so much from meeting friends, but tend to feel guilty or put other things in the way. Soooooo, this year, this is one of the "fun things" I am adding to my goals for the New Year. There are some other fun things, too, so I'm looking forward to some new things in 2018!I also have some goals that will stretch me. I want this year to be the year of getting out of my comfort zone. So, that's going to be big for me. Some of that goes along with work goals and goals for this blog, site and the launching of my new website. I hope this time next year that I have actually come through on this (; !Printable 2018 BUCKET LIST GOALSI've gotten a bit deeper in my goals this year as you will see on this sheet. I have different irons in the fire so am hoping that putting pen to paper on what I'd love to see get accomplished will help me actually get it done.
