SIMPLIFY IN 2019 . . . My Intention. AND I have a GIFT for YOU!
Here we are, friends. At the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. As I sit here watching the news reports on the festivities and as 2/3 of my boys are in New Orleans preparing to cheer on the Dawgs in the Sugar Bowl, I confess I am quite content to sit right here in a quiet house reflecting on 2018 and truly anticipating 2019.I'm not gonna lie. I am ready to put 2018 to bed and take on 2019 with open arms. 2018 has been a really hard year. But, even in the hard, there have been greatness, goodness, growth and good things. If you are not new here you know at the new year I do not do resolutions, but rather try to choose a word to place intentionally into my life for the year. Last year, I took it a little further and wrote out my bucket list for 2018.Last year in THIS POST I shared my work for 2018 was Abundant. I worked a lot on this during the year. I honestly tried to put in the work on myself to take advantage of each day and to actually do what I was thinking or talking about. I had some great growth in 2018. I did get out of my comfort zone, and accomplished some things on my Bucket List. Others I did not and that's okay. Some were beyond my control and will just roll over to this year. Here you can see what I wrote out last year. I'm a big believer in writing. it. down. And if you look closely you can actually see what I wrote - now that's getting out of my comfort zone to share with you!!In 2019 I want to continue with the get out of my comfort zone thing. I had someone ask me lately about my "Don't Be an Old Lady" videos. I want to get back to that. I have something to say on that topic, for sure! I've been taking some time away from this space and have some new ideas I'd like to work on here. But for now I want to tell you the BIG thing I am going to work on in 2019 is to SIMPLIFY in all areas of my life. I am in the process of moving and downsizing so am looking forward to letting go of a lot of material things. I also want to let go of other things that we allow to weigh us down. I want to simplify what I do, how I spend my time, and not allow myself to complicate my schedule, lifestyle, and routines just because that is what is swirling around me. I know the habits, foods, activities and people that make me feel good, strong and healthy. Those things will be my focus. One of the things I love in line with preparing for a new year, is getting a new, old fashioned planner. Let me tell you, too, I am picky about this. It has to last all year. It has to be portable. It has to have space for me to add not only my "to dos" but other notes, inspirations, scriptures, etc. I'm so picky, that I have actually planned my own - but could never figure out how to actually get it printed and into fruition. So, here is the next best thing. Recently I attended the Business Boutique conference hosted by Christy Wright. While there, I attended a talk by Emily Ley, the creator of the Simplified Planner. I love the thought of a female entrepranauer launching a brand and company out of her garage, so I chose this planner for 2019. Being the nerd that I am, I am so excited about all of these blank pages in front of me, just waiting to be filled! And guess what? Somehow instead of ordering just one I ordered TWO! That means I have one to GIVEAWAY to YOU! Want it? Simply follow me on Instagram and DM me your word, intention or one goal for the new year! I'll have an Instagram Post up about this post so make sure to comment and share for a chance to grab your own copy!Another thing I wanted to share. I heard this today from Brendon Bruchard. He said he never makes a new year's resolution or goal on something that you need to work on. I totally agree. That's why those goals to lose 15 pounds never work. There's really no motivation. Rather, think of simple, easy habits you can incorporate daily. Adding simple actions to your day are not punishing and bring on a huge bang for your buck. Why not give that a try this year? What about you? Do you make resolutions, intentions, goals, or simply let it go because you know you'll let it drop by the wayside?
