Stop Canceling on Yourself

Today I want to talk to you about something or someone really important.  You.  It is April now - actually the end of April.  By now I am fairly sure most,  if not all,  of your excitement, inspiration and planning about how you were going to make and uphold some wonderful, fun and healthy goals for the new year have fallen away. Those promises you made to start something new have been canceled.Maybe it isn't even new year goals.  Maybe there have been regular promises you have made to yourself again and again to get healthy, cook wholesome meals, begin to exercise, run a half marathon, lose those last ten pounds.  Any of these sound familiar?  You fill in the blank if I haven't hit your exact nail on the head.Chances are there are many of you out there who have filled your schedules with making sure you get to work on time, meet your friend for lunch, and not even miss your regular dentist appointment.  You also make sure your children get their yearly physicals, run to the grocery store to purchase their favorite sports drink, make sure the laundry gets done, and have spent countless hours shuttling some little person or persons to a birthday party, practice, or recital.  All these things get done on time when they need to get done.  However, when it comes to that promise you made yourself to join the gym, train for that 5k or half marathon, or learn how to use those mystery weights in the gym, you constantly cancel on yourself. When was the last time you canceled on a promise you made to your best friend?  Your spouse?  What about a child?  I bet those chances go down with each of those people in your life.  I know moms and I know we would just as soon jump in a river of nasty crocodiles as break a promise to one of our children.  It just WOULD NOT happen come heck or highwater. So, what about yourself?  Why would you then cancel on yourself?  If you can't take care of yourself then how are you going to have the health, stamina and energy to continue to keep all those promises to all those other people in your life?  What makes all those other people and commitments so much more important than yourself?  Are they all such big deals?  Let me remind you of something. You are a big deal.Dust off those promises or promise you have been making to yourself.  It doesn't have to be anything big or audacious.  It just has to be meaningful for you and to you.  No more canceling on yourself.  Remember that you are a big deal and worth the effort in making sure you are at the top of your game.If it is a fitness goal, a weight loss promise, or any type of personal goal to learn or grow or experience, put it back on the table.  Make it a priority just as you would if it were for someone else.  Then treat yourself the very same way you would the other folks in your life and refuse to cancel on yourself!Enjoy Your Day!Marla-Deen Fit, Empowering You To Live A Balanced Healthy Live at Any Age with a focus on fitness and health
