Do You Have Discipline to Take Care of YOURSELF?
It's the beginning of summer. The time of year when we all think a bit more about weight, weight loss, how we look as we shed those winter clothes and dive into these warm months full of a lighter schedule, pool time, lake time, beach time, all those things that we love about summer. It's also a time following a Holiday weekend so we think about reigning in and being more disciplined.Discipline is a huge topic in the fitness and health area, but also in so many other areas of our lives, right?In our world there are always excuses for just about anything. Why we don't have time to exercise. Why we "need" to pick up dinner at the drive-thru. Why we can't take the time to take care of ourselves. How hard it would be to re-visit those hobbies we love. It is SO easy to hold ourselves back from things that could bring us so much energy, strength and joy. Is it a question of laziness or lack of discipline?At some point you just have to be a grown up. You have to pull up your big girl pants and do the right thing. You need to do whatever it takes to make yourself do what should be done.
I encourage you to make healthy habits now that can carry you forward from today to beyond. BUT, it is all about Progress NOT perfection!Think about where you want to be in one year, five years, 10 years and beyond. How are you going to get there?Make a plan. Write it down. Find a partner or accountability group. Then simply move forward one day at a time. Practice self-discipline.Work on your self-discipline like you work on anything else. Do something every day that helps you progress forward. You are your health and I've said it before - you are a big deal!
