3 Things for Your Week

I've spent the past week packing, moving, hauling, unpacking, nesting, more unpacking, reorganizing and all the things that come with a move.  Moving is a bit like childbirth, isn't it.  It's a good thing your mind allows you to  forget how awful the process is or you may be in your one spot your entire life. But, I have to tell you how happy I am (and how delirious my dogs are) even after only one week.   A fresh space can sometimes give us a whole new perspective. With the craziness and stress of a move, one thing that I have not let go AND has helped me keep my sanity, gain clarity and helped keep me energised is one of my very simple habits.

  1.  A 30 minute walk. Daily.

I really can't stress this enough for so many benefits.  The physical benefits are a no brainer, but with these walks, I'm not even stressing the fitness aspect.  It's so much more.  One of my "non negotiables" whether I am coaching someone on their health or whether it is on moving forward and wellbeing, is to include a daily walk.  Oftentimes it is more for the time of intention and mindfulness it offers.  I have a strong belief that your physical fitness and health cannot be firmly established or will not "stick" if your mind isn't right.  Walking, preferably outside, daily gives you an opportunity to step away from whatever it is you are doing, experience some endorphins, get in some movement, experience a bit of nature and absorb some Vitamin D.  Plus, a study published just last year in Scientific Reports found that physical activity, positive mood, and creativity were all "associated with each other." I really find this to be true.  I find that while I am walking I have more ideas, time to think and can get more creative  - as you can tell from my "Walk and Talk" videos. You can often find me walking and listening to a podcast or audiobook, but I also encourage you to set apart some walking times without your headphones.  Give your brain some time to be free from the white noise and let it have some of its own breathing room.  This may be hard and I get it.  I am a serial multitasker so this one has taken some discipline for me, but it has been huge for allowing me some space to work through issues, process hard things, and also learn to just enjoy the quiet and create good intentional thinking time.So. . . . if you are looking for a good, new habit to begin as we take ourselves to the end of 2021, I think this one can be a very simple,  but all around healthy habit to create. Lots of bang for your buck, here.

  1.  A Walk and Talk about being in that spot when the change you want to make isn't quite feasible.

If you missed this on Instagram, it's a simple reframe that may help you.[embed]https://youtu.be/jNjZ5kDT688[/embed]3.  A Book GiveawayDid you see my post on Instagram that I ordered not ONE but THREE copies of Mel Robbins new book, The High Five Habit?  Well, I did and I'm here to giveaway TWO copies!  Here's the thing.  I randomly discovered Mel (yes, I'm calling her that) doing a Ted Talk a few years ago.  I honestly feel like we are kindred spirits or could be sisters . . . although she clearly has no idea about this.  But, I do love her no nonsense, pick yourself up style of coaching.  Over the past year with the pandemic she was completely honest about the toll it took on her and her business.  I watched her post on Instagram giving herself a High 5 in the mirror to start the day. And it started something with SO many people.  She took a deep dive into the research and wrote the book about it.  Let me tell you first off, it is not a book full of toxic positivity or just say positive things to yourself daily (although those are good things) there is more to it and I am all for diving into the background and scientific findings behind this simple habit.  Now, I cannot say I am giving myself a High 5 in the mirror each day, but I'm not saying I won't be.I have a friend who makes fun of my constant consuming and purchasing books.  However, I just can't help it.  There is so much to learn and so much more growth I want to do that anything I can gain, even if it's just one little nugget, that may be helpful to me or to share with you or a client, then it is definitely worth my time and energy.  Plus, having that Amazon truck drive up is a little like Christmas, right?Which brings me back to sharing copies of this new book with you.  I'll choose TWO of you to each get a copy! There are TWO ways to enter to get a copy.First, Follow me on Instagram and send me a DM telling me what new habit you have created or what habit you would like to create during these last months of 2021.  (And you get a virtual hug if its a 30 minute walk!).Second, just comment here the same thing about a new habit or one you would like to create PLUS share this post with a friend. That's it!  I really hope to hear from you and all about your new habits.  Giveaway ends Monday 10/18.

Stay Well!
